How To Mount ISOs on Windows 7 or Vista

The freeware utility from Microsoft to mount ISO Images doesn’t work in Windows 7 or Vista. Thankfully there’s another utility that does.

The utility that we will use is called Virtual Clone Drive. This utility will let you mount .ISO, .CCD, .DVD, .IMG, .UDF and .BIN files. Download the utility and start the setup process.

Select Yes or OK at the hardware prompt and continue. You might have to restart your computer. Now you should be able to mount any ISO image by just double-clicking on the file. You can also right-click on the cd-rom drive to mount or unmount an image.

Notes: If you are going to reinstall this utility, make sure you uninstall it first, or you’ll BSOD yourself repeatedly. Also, as of the latest version, this utility should work on Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit edition.

Not every piece of software that works on Windows XP or Vista will work on Windows 7. Mounting ISO files can be particularly difficult if you’ve been using Daemon Tools to do it so far.

Until Daemon Tools shows up with a version that will work on Windows 7, you can usePowerISO to mount ISO, nrg, mdf and a few other types of image files. PowerISO is freeware so there shouldn’t be any problem. Its only limitations is the screen that asks you to register it and a limit of 300Mb when creating or editing files. Mounting files doesn’t come with limitations however.

Update: there is now a Daemon Tools version that works on Windows 7.

How To Check the Purity of honey

Method 1
  • Pour a half cup of honey slowly into another cup. Pure honey will spin clockwise as you pour it. This is a result of the assymetrical structure of honey molecules that give it a righthand bias.

Method 2

  • Get a lighter and a candle with a cotton wick. This test is better if you don't have as much honey to spare.
  • Dip the cotton wick of the candle into a bit of the honey, and shake off the excess.
  • Attempt to light the wick. If it burns, then it is completely pure honey. If it refuses to burn, then the presence of water is not allowing the wick to burn. (If there is only a very small amount of honey on the wick, though, it might still burn. It will produce a crackling sound, and it would be best to blow out the wick and try it again this time using more honey.)
Method 3

  • Test the water content in your honey. To do this, dip a length of your cotton wick into the honey. Hold one end to allow excess honey to slowly dribble off. Light your candle and then hold it to the soaked end of the cotton wick. If your honey is pure, it will contain minimal water content, and will burn; if it is impure, it will likely have a high water content and which will prevent it from burning. If the impure honey does burn, then you will hear it crackle.

Method 4
  • Get a glass of water. And a tablespoon of honey are all you need for the first test.
  • Empty the honey into the water. If the honey is impure, it will dissolve in the water- the most common additive to honey is syrup of jaggery, which dissolves. If it is pure, the honey will stick together and sink as a solid lump to the bottom of the glass.
  • This test can also be completed by mixing equal parts honey and methylated spirits (denatured alcohol). Pure honey will settle to the bottom. Impure honey is more likely to remain dissolved and make the solution milky.

Method 5
  • Pour a few drops of honey on blotting paper and observe whether or not it is absorbed. If it's absorbed, the honey's not pure.
  • If you don't have blotting paper, pour a little bit of honey on a white cloth, then wash the cloth. If there is any stain left by the honey, it is probably not pure.

PDF Merger

A Free Ware Tools which helps merge pdf files very easily

Features:
allows you to rearrange (reorder, delete, & duplicate) pages in a single document and/or merge pages from multiple PDF documents. Multiple documents will be merged in the order they are listed in the 'Source Documents' window. If page ranges are not specified, PDFTK Builder will assume all pages for that document are to be included. Page ranges can be indicated by using a single page number, or a hyphen between start and end pages, and reversed page orders are also allowed. Multiple ranges are indicated by using commas or semi-colons between ranges. Collate can be used to remove pages from a single document simply by specifying the page ranges you wish to retain for that document. Collate can also be used to insert pages from one pdf document into another.

Example:- if you wished to insert pages from one document into the middle of another, then the primary document would need to be listed twice: once before the insertion document, listing pages to appear before; and once after, listing pages to appear after the the insertion document.
